DIVINE INTERVENTION-Part-1 By: Pastor Abraham Bascon
We are in this place of worship this morning because of God's desire for the Salvation of souls!
Because of God's hand, and His "divine intervention!" And...it is ALL GOD'S DOING! Praise Him!
There are folks out there in this city of Brockton, who are hungry for the Lord!
Just before we moved into this church building, I stationed myself on Main Street, and I began to greet the people as they passed by. Some folks would expect that it would be very dangerous to do such a thing in a big intercity area. However, in the love of the Lord, I went out along Main Street and began to greet the folks. And, I would like to say, that every one that I introduced myself and their new neighbor, the Word of God Church to, were very gracious and cheerful. Ministering in the City of Brockton for thirty years or more, some folks knew me, and some didn't. One fellow said to me: "O' I knew an Abraham. I used to go to his church, the Word of God Church." I said to him: "I am Abraham." (Of course, back then, I was about a good 210 lbs. or so.) He was surprised to see me. I invited him to come to church, and he said that he would. As I continued on greeting folks, I also spoke with another fellow who said to me: "I knew a pastor named Abraham! Yea..He's the pastor of the Word of God Church!" And, upon hearing the man say that to me, I replied: "Yea! That's me!" Folks around the center of the city, have not seen me for many years; for our last church building was a ways down from the center of the city. However, when the Lord first called us into ministry, He led us to open the House of Friendship Ministry which ministered to the poor and needy of the city. The House of Friendship ministry was begun in a small store front right in the middle of downtown Brockton. That small storefront, is just around the corner from this new church building. We witnessed many salvations, miraculous healings and deliverances at that small storefront back in the 70's. Those were our very early beginnings. And, about four years or so later, the birth of the Word of God Church took place in 1979.
Paula, who has recently returned to the Word of God Church, and is serving the Lord here with us, was only a younster of twelve years old back then; and, she was involved with the House of Friendship Ministry along with some of her family.If we are to have revival,we need the laborers! There are hungry folks out there,who the Holy Spirit has already worked in their hearts.
All they need is to be approached by one of us who has the Good News of the Lord Jesus Christ! We don't have to do anything special. For Jesus said that the Holy Spirit will do the convicting. John 16:8 says: "And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment:"
Yesterday I officiated at a wedding. It was an informal wedding.
Being a Christian church, anyone that I would marry, would have to be Christians. I had explained this to the couple. I knew that the bride was a Christian; however, I asked the groom, if he was a Christian. His reply to me was: "I used to go to the Catholic church; but, I stopped." He continued on saying: "I feel in my heart, that I want something more. I would like to have more of a relationship with God." After listening to the groom's answer, I asked: "If you are in doubt, do you know what that means?" And this young man looked at me and answered:
"That I'm not a Christian?" I ministered the Word to him, and led him in the sinner's prayer. He received the Lord Jesus as His Personal Savior and Lord of his life. And, as it turned out, yesterday was a "double" blessing! Not only was there a wedding; but, a soul was saved! Nothing was done on my part or Sister Marcia's part. The bride was a beautiful young Christian woman with a beautiful spirit; and, the groom, was so hungry for Jesus. Not even having to be asked, coaxed or threatened to receive the Lord; but, he himself asked to receive the Lord Jesus as his Savior! And, after explaining that if it was not from his heart, it would be meaningless to him, I led him into a prayer of salvation. After I prayed, this young man started praying and repenting to the Lord! He was praying straight from his heart! It was a genuine conversion! He had such a great brillance around him! Even more than when I pronounced them man and wife! Yes, there are folks out there just waiting for us to share the Word with them! I didn't have tracs when I went out on Main Street. I didn't even have anything planned. I just went out on the street and began to greet the people. The Holy Spirit just took over! There have been times in the past when we went out street witnessing when folks would quickly glance at the trac that we gave them, some would throw it down, and some would not even take the trac! But, now is the time. It seems that people are hungry for the Lord. They are ripe for the picking! It is as easy as going fishing! When Brother Peter and I were fishing down the Cape. The fish kept coming on my hook! And we had fun just catching these fish and throwing them back again! You just go out there and share the Gospel with folks! It's as easy as that! And, you don't even have to use any bait! All you really have to do is say:"Hi, how are you doing today?" They reply: "Fine." And we ask: "Are you really doing fine?" And, many times their reply is: "No." Then the door is open to ask: "What's going on in your life?" And, before you know it, you are giving them the answer to their problems....JESUS is their Answer! It has to be time for revival! Time for the saving of souls! It is just around the corner --- a breakthrough! The folks have been praying for revival for a long time! Jane and her sister Joanne are here with us today! Jane was close to death when the Lord healed her from Cancer! And, here she is with us today! Brother Norman and his wife,Nancy just experienced a miraculous healing. Nancy was very ill with breat Cancer. Just this week, she received the good news from her doctor that she is "CANCER FREE!" The details of Nancy's miraculous healing can be found on the "Testimonies of Healing" link on the left. Click on it, and read about the Glory that they are giving to God for this miracle! Sister Marcia, being a nurse for so many years, suffered from tremendous pain in her back. After coming up requesting PRAYER, she instantly received healing from her back pain! She has been sleeping very well at night, and she is still rejoicing and thankful to the Lord for not having any back pain! If the Lord can do it for Nancy, Jane, Marcia and others, He can do it for YOU! No matter what type of miracle is needed! Just PRAY and PRAY BELIEVING! I believe that we are now just at the brink of revival! That is why these miracles are taking place!
