1-SERIES: ASK the Father in the Name of Jesus - PART 1 OF 6 By: Pastor Abraham Bascon
MATTHEW 7:7,8 ASK, and it SHALL be given you, SEEK and ye SHALL find, KNOCK, and it SHALL be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
"ASK" In the Greek, means: to beg; to crave; to call for; to require God DOES NOT want us to literally "beg" Him for our needs; but, because we are His sons and daughters, verse 10 tells us, our Heavenly Father desires to give good gifts (needs) to them that "ASK" Him. (Of course, what we ask for, must NOT be contrary to God's Word.) JOHN 14:13- Jesus Himself tells us: And whosoever ye shall "ASK" in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
We are commanded in the Word of God to "ASK." When we "ASK," Jesus tells us: the Father is glorified! We "ASK" in FAITH. We "ASK" in the Name of Jesus; and Jesus says: HE will do it! JOHN 14:14-"If ye ask ANYTHING in My name, I will do it."
JOHN 14:16-19- Jesus is comforting His disciples as He is about to leave them; but promises them that He will pray to the Father, and he shall give them another Comforter (the Holy Spirit), that he may abide with them FOREVER. (At this time, Jesus' disciples were not yet born-again. Jesus had not yet died on the cross. This is prior to Jesus glorification.) JOHN 14:20,21- At "that" day (the day of your Salvation) ye shall know (perceive, understand etc.) by way of the Holy Spirit, our Teacher. v.26); JOHN 16:23- And "that" day (the day of your Salvation), ye shall ask me(Jesus) NOTHING. "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the FATHER in my name, he will give it you." (By way of Jesus - - - JOHN 14:14-Jesus says: "I will do it.") 16:24-Hitherto (up to now), ye have asked NOTHING in my name: ASK, and ye SHALL RECEIVE that your joy may be full. (Up to then, they never asked the Father anything in Jesus' name. They asked Jesus: He was with them! Now, Jesus is telling them to ASK the Father, in His (Jesus) Name, that their joy may be full!) MATTHEW 7:7,8-"ASK," and it SHALL be given you, SEEK and ye SHALL find, KNOCK, and it SHALL be opened unto you: For every one that ASKETH receiveth; and he that SEEKETH findeth; and to him that KNOCKETH, it shall be opened.
Again, I remind you: "ASK" - In the Greek, means: to beg; to crave; --to call for; -- to require God DOES NOT want us to literally "beg" Him for our needs; but, because we are His sons and daughters, verse 10 tells us, our Heavenly Father DESIRES to give good gifts (needs) to them that ASK Him! (Of course, what we ask for, must NOT be contrary to God's Word.) JOHN 14:13- Jesus Himself tells us: "And whosoever ye shall ASK in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son." We are commanded in the Word of God to "ASK" for when we "ASK," Jesus tells us: that the Father is glorified! We ASK in FAITH; we ASK in the Name of Jesus; and Jesus says: HE WILL do it! JOHN 14:14-"If ye ask ANYTHING in My name, I will do it."
Be reminded again that: JOHN 14:16-19- Jesus is comforting His disciples as He is about to leave them; but promises them that He will pray to the Father, and he shall give them another Comforter (the Holy Spirit), that he may abide with them FOREVER. (At this time, Jesus disciples were not yet born-again. Jesus had not yet died on the cross. This is prior to Jesus glorification.)
JOHN 14:20,21- At "that" day(the day of your Salvation) ye shall know (perceive, understand etc.) by the way of the Holy Spirit, The Teacher v.26); JOHN 16:23- And "that" day (the day of your Salvation), ye shall ask "me"(Jesus) NOTHING. "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever YE shall ASK the FATHER in my name, He will give it you." (By way of Jesus - - - JOHN 14:14 Jesus says: "I will do it.") 16:24- "Hitherto (up to now), ye have asked nothing in my name: ASK, and ye SHALL RECEIVE that your joy may be full."
I repeat: (Up to then, they never asked the Father anything in Jesus' name. They asked Jesus, He was with them! Now, Jesus is telling them to "ASK" the Father, in His (Jesus') Name, that their joy may be full!) JOHN 16:26,27-At THAT day (the day of Salvation), YE shall ask in my name, and I say NOT unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:
(When we become born-again, Jesus says: He will NOT pray to the Father for us: (Jesus doesn't have to; WE have a direct-line to the Father! WE are commanded to "ASK!") WE are not only commanded to "ASK" the Father; but, we have also been given the 'privilege' or the 'right' to ASK in the Name of Jesus! When we do this by faith, and when 'what' we are 'asking' for is NOT contrary to God's Word; then, we are asking according to the Word of God! And, God is faithful to His Word! He watches over His Word; and, He hastens to perform it!! Jesus says: He will do it! Not only do WE receive; but, the Father is 'glorified' by OUR 'ASKING!'
JOHN 16:27- Here we find another reason why we shall receive when we ask the Father in Jesus' Name; BECAUSE, the Father himself, LOVETH YOU, because YE have loved ME (Jesus), and have BELIEVED that I came OUT from God. (The Only Begotten Son of God) Jesus is telling us that The Father Himself, LOVES US! And why does the Father love us so much? Because, WE LOVE His Son, JESUS, and WE BELIEVE that Jesus came 'out' from God! JESUS is the Only Begotten Son of God! MATTHEW 7:31-33- "Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? Or, What shall we drink? Or, wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For all these things do the Gentiles seek;) for your heavenly Father KNOWETH that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye 'first' the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and ALL these things shall be added unto you." What an AWESOME pleasure and relief to our hearts and minds to know that our Father in Heaven literally knows, and is well aware of ALL of OUR NEEDS! As we seek 'first' the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, we are assured by Him, that ALL of our 'NEEDS' shall be given us!
YOU...Just take the time to "ASK" the Father in FAITH, in the Name of JESUS! ASK in FAITH, DOUBT NOT! ASK in FAITH, BELIEVING, being STEDFAST and UNMOVEABLE on God's Word for God honors our FAITH! Praise God! ASK - SEEK - KNOCK! LORD BLESS YOU ALL!
LESSON 2 - "IN THAT DAY" to come in February!
