A. HOW SERIOUSLY DO WE TAKE A BLESSING?
Do we know the importance and the significance of a blessing?
When we say “God bless you,” do we really mean it? Or, are we only saying it to sound religious or to give the impression that we know God?

. a. BLESS (In Hebrew.) is BARAK: Meaning: to kneel, by implying, to
bless God (as an act of adoration). A benefit, congratulate, praise,
salute, thank. It could also mean: to curse and blaspheme.

. b. In Greek, eulogeo means: To speak well of, i.e. religiously.
to prosper, to praise.


B. First occurrence of bless (Gen.1:21-22, 27-28)
. a. Isaac blesses Jacob (Gen. 27)
.
. 1- v.2-4,. Isaac wants to bless Esau his first-born before he died,
which was the custom at that time.
. 2- v.6-10, Rebekah plots to take Esau’s blessing and give it to Jacob
. 3- v.18-27, Isaac is suspicious of Jacob.
. 4- v.28-29, Isaac bless Jacob.
. 5- v.31, Esau returns from hunting and brings the food to Isaac, to
receive his first-born blessing.
. 6- v.33, Isaac trembles knowing He was deceived.

. b. Isaac says, his blessing has been spoke upon the deceiver and it
shall come to pass (v.35).


C. Jacob was very prosperous as the blessing he received began to manifest (v. 14-16).
. a. The lesson learned from Isaac’s blessing:

. 1. The blessing shall be fulfilled and honored if it’s God’s will. And, it was God’s will, according to the Promise of God to Jacob’s Grandfather!
