HOLY, HOLY, HOLY By: Pastor Abraham Bascon

In ISAIAH 6:1-We read: "In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple." Isaiah is saying: He saw the Lord sitting on a throne;and, the train of His robe filled the temple!
In JOHN 4:23-24 When Jesus was speaking to the Samaritan woman at the well, He told her: God was Spirit. Question: Can you see a spirit? Answer: No. Spirits are invisible. So, I ask you: Is Isaiah making up a story? Is he telling us a lie? Isaiah tells us that God was sitting high and lifted up on a very high throne,(he elaborates here)on a very high throne. And, he goes on to say: I saw the train of His robe so grand, that it filled the temple! He said it was magnificent! Only God would have such a train!
But, how can it be that Isaiah said: I saw God sitting on the throne; for, Moses said:If I have found favor with You, let me see Your face! And, God replied: No man shall see My face and live! However, Moses was allowed to see God's back. Question: How then can Isaiah say that he saw God; yet, Isaiah did not drop dead?
In the Book of Revelation, John tells us that the beauty and splendor of God can only be explained with precious jewels such as: diamonds and emeralds. Isaiah saw God sitting on the throne; but, he was not able to see God's face. My speculation would be perhaps he could not see God's face because of the brilliance of God's glory was 'as' or 'like' precious stones. In ISAIAH 6:2-He continues on calling God the "Lord of Hosts," the "Commander of Heaven's Armies. In verse 4, he tells us that the place was filled with smoke. Which we can refer to as the "glory cloud" of God. Upon hearing the seraphim (with six wings) saying: "Holy, holy, holy" and seeing the place filled with the glory cloud, ISAIAH cries out: "Woe, Woe is me --- I am undone!" A man of unclean lips! His eyes have seen the King! Isaiah saw the Lord God Almighty!
Isaiah was probably saying: I'm in trouble now! For my eyes have seen the Commander of Heaven's Armies! For, Isaiah was a man of unclean lips(a sinner)! Upon hearing the seraphim with six wings saying:"Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God Almighty, Isaiah cries: "I'm a man of unclean lips!" God's glory and pure holiness made Isaiah understand that he is a sinner! That holiness and sinfulness cannot co-exist! Just as darkness and light; and, good and evil cannot co-exist. So, when Isaiah saw the total purity, the HOLINESS and the excellency of God, it only revealed to him, what a pitiful sinner he was! He thought that he would become undone(meaning: destroyed or killed; because, he saw the Lord.

God is HOLY! Say it with me: "God is HOLY!" We, as Believers of the Lord Jesus Christ know about God. We share His Mercy, His Love and His Grace with others. However, let us NOT forget: God is HOLY! Question: How many times have you shared God's HOLINESS with someone? We would rather share God's Love and Grace instead. But, this has to be our attitude toward God: God is HOLY! And, sinful man, in his present state, cannot co-exist with God! Because, God cannot tolerate sin! The point I am making here is: Thank God for the Lord Jesus Christ who reconciled us back to God! And, God's point here is: Redemption!

So...Question: What is our reason to come into this place, this Church? What is Church? Some folks would probably answer: "Oh, church is music, songs, Pastor sharing a sermon and probably some prayer time etc.." My answer is: We come to this place, to come into the presence of a HOLY GOD!
The platform singers, should NOT be looked upon as someone who is going to 'inspire' you to Praise God! When you come into the sanctuary,(the place that has been "set apart" for Praise to and Worship of God), you come with that same attitude: That we are coming together as a HOLY people to worship a HOLY God!! When the Music Ministry begins to praise and sing, you should NOT have to wait for them to 'inspire' you to sing praises to the Lord --NO! Their praising and singing, should just ADD TO OUR Praise and Worship of God! That's what we are here for --- the very reason we come is to "offer the sacrifice of praise to our HOLY God, that is the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name." (HEB.13:15)
But, we who are of the 'saved' and 'called' of the Lord, who God has made to be a 'HOLY' People, when we come to the sanctuary, (the place "set apart"), keep this in mind, it is a sacred place that MUST be respected!
'Sanctified' comes from the word HOLY. Believers of the Lord Jesus Christ, are "sanctified," "set apart" to worship God! We are all saints of the Lord! We are all HOLY! The Lord Jesus Christ 'sanctified' us; and, made us HOLY!! God cannot tolerate sin! He is a HOLY GOD!
After they sinned, Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden of Eden because sin and holiness cannot co-exist. God sent the flood and destroyed the world of all living creatures; but, spared Noah and his family, because sin was so rampant.
The people's thoughts were continually evil.

God continually chastened the Israelites because of the hardness
of their hearts. God is a HOLY GOD, and DEMANDS a HOLY PEOPLE! For that reason, God put on a human body to destroy the sinful work of the devil; and, to have a people cleansed of their sins.
God is HOLY, and EVERYTHING about God is HOLY! Here are a few scriptural thoughts to confirm God's HOLINESS:

1. GOD'S NAME is HOLY. (MATTHEW 6:9, JOHN 17:11) Jesus gave His disciples a prayer outline. When you pray, right at the beginning, you acknowledge and address God like this:
"Our Father, who art in heaven, HALLOWED (HOLY) be Your Name..."
Jesus' Name is also HOLY. (ACTS 4:27; 13:35)
The Spirit of God is called the 'HOLY' SPIRIT.

2. God's Residence is HOLY.
Psa 47:8 "God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his HOLINESS."
Psa 48:1 "Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his HOLINESS."
Psa 93:5 "Thy testimonies are very sure: HOLINESS becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever."

3. God's angels are also HOLY: Mark 8:38 "Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the HOLY angels."

4. ROMANS 1:2;7:12-God's Word is HOLY.
Rom 1:2 "Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the HOLY scriptures,"
Rom 7:12 "Wherefore the law is HOLY, and the commandment HOLY, and just, and good."

5. LUKE 1:72- God's Covenant is HOLY.
Luk 1:72 "To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his HOLY covenant;"

6. JUDE 1:20- "We are to live according to our most HOLY faith.
Jud 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most HOLY faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,"

7. 2TIMOTHY 1:9- HOLY calling.
2Ti 1:9 "Who hath saved us, and called us with a HOLY calling,
not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.

8. 1PETER 1:16-Be YE HOLY as I AM HOLY. God commands us to be HOLY.

9. ROMANS 12:1-Our bodies should be presented HOLY to God.
Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, HOLY, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Live HOLY and have an attitude of HOLINESS.
We are children of a HOLY GOD!

10. 1PETER 2:9- We are a HOLY NATION.
1Pe 2:9 "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a HOLY nation, a peculiar(special) people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:"

God CANNOT and WILL NOT tolerate sin! We need to have reverence, respect toward God! He is HOLY! EVERYTHING that has sin, MUST BE done away with! God is sacred!
"Holiness" and "sacredness" are defined as: "an aweful thing"
How many here, are 'a holy thing' to God? You're "an aweful thing"
NOT in the negative sense; but, in a positive way. In a positive way "inspiring awe!" Inspiring awe is AWEFUL!
For example: In Maui, when you sit by the seashore, you see beautiful white sand. And, you may be sitting under a coconut tree, and you see the beautiful tropical flowers: the Hybiscus, the Bird of Paradise and etc.. And, you see the horizon, where the water meets the sky. Then you see this splendid sunset and the skies begin to change different colors: yellow, orange, red etc.. and it is an "aweful" sight! It is just "AWE" inspiring!

You look in the Bible, and see just how many times God is referred to as LOVE. You cannot compare it to the many times God is referred to as HOLY. He is a HOLY GOD! Of course He is a loving God as well. Just read: JOHN 3:16 to see how much LOVE God has. But, don't forget that the mention of the HOLINESS of God far surpasses the mentioning of the love of God in the Bible. Question; Do you suppose that the Holy Spirit is trying to make a point? Answer: YES.
The Holy Spirit is saying that God is HOLY; so, therefore be YE HOLY! Sinfulness covers up the HOLY nature. If YOU are in sinfulness, the devil will take advantage of you. He will get you running! Our God is HOLY, and we have His HOLY nature within us! Live your life to be HOLY, HOLY, HOLY before God!

Let me give you an incentive to live and manifest the HOLINESS of God. John says in the Book of Revelation, that he saw the HOLY CITY coming down from heaven; and, that HOLY people will be able to live in that HOLY CITY with a HOLY God.
To fellowship with God forever and ever!
Sinful man, MUST become HOLY! There is an end for everybody's life here on earth. Whether it be by sickness, disease or by an accident etc.. But the end will come; and, it will be determined
if you are HOLY. And, if you are NOT HOLY, you CANNOT enter the HOLY city! Praise God, that God has ALREADY made provision for sinful man to become HOLY! The Provision is:
BELIEVE that the Lord Jesus,is the Son of God, the Messiah, who died for all to be saved and cleansed from all their sins by the shedding of His spotless, blameless and Precious Blood.
God has already paid the price to get you SAVED and HOLY. So, why not RECEIVE JESUS as YOUR Personal Saviour and make Him LORD of YOUR life TODAY!

We want to live for God who is HOLY! The Bible tells us that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life! Jesus says: "No man goes to the Father except through Me."
To help us to live a HOLY life for God, in His HOLINESS, let the following be a motivation for us:
Moses so badly, wanted to 'SEE' the face of God; but, he couldn't 'lest he die.
However, REV.22:3-Tells us: God's servants SHALL 'SEE' God's HOLY face! And, God's HOLY NAME shall be on their HOLY foreheads!

And, God's HOLY servants SHALL 'SEE' GOD'S HOLY face and NOT drop dead!! PRAISE OUR HOLY, HOLY, HOLY GOD!!
