12a-The Greatest Miracle of a Saved Life-Pt.1 of 2

I praise God that yesterday; Pastor Marcia took me on a beautiful birthday adventure. Yes, during a certain time of the year, it happens that I am actually two years older than Pastor Marcia. Yes, I have a young
“chickie!” (Laughter) She keeps me young! (Laughter) If not for the Lord! But, it was just a sweet surprise along with some of my children. For the sake of time, I can’t go into detail right now. But, if you would like to know more, just ask me downstairs during fellowship and I will be glad to share with you. (Applause) Pastor: Amen, thank you. You know, when I was about twenty-four years old back in the Island of Maui…and as use all know, Maui is part of the Hawaiian Islands. I was a bricklayer mason, and we were working on this particular project which was about three stories high. And, what we doing was handling some concrete blocks which measured: 8”x8”x16” and weighed roughly about twenty pounds. And, we were unloading a skid of these concrete blocks. We were passing it to each other, to get it into the area where we were working. And, somehow I twisted my back. I felt just a little bit of pain. I thought it was just because of the twisting, and I forgot about it and just kept on working. But, when I got home, and my body started to cool down, the pain in my lower back was becoming unbearable. So, I thought that I would get in to a nice hot bath and just lay there in the water and try to soothe the pain. The next morning, I woke up and I couldn’t lift myself up out of the bed. It was very difficult. So, I went to the doctor and had myself checked out and x-rayed and all that. The doctor showed me the x-ray of my lower back. And, he showed me something that was abnormal with my lower spine. And, he said to me that the pain that I experienced was the result of the twisting that I did to that part of my spine. And so, he said to me: “You better change your profession.” Now, I was only twenty-four years old at the time. But, the doctor continued to say: “You better change your profession; otherwise, you will not live to be thirty-five years old.” He said that that is how bad my back was and if I continued to do that type of work, it would kill me. BUT…How many of you know that God is a God of miracles?? (Laughter) Amen! So, I lived with the pain. The doctors did want me to have surgery to correct whatever was wrong with my back. And, I just asked them: “What kind of percentage could you actually give me that doing surgery would be successful?” And, the doctors told me: “Well, maybe about 75% successful.” And, I told them: “No, I don’t want to take the risk of having surgery and only coming out of it with a possible 75% of success.” So, I avoided the surgery and did some physical therapy. And, after that, I just lived with the pain. When I arrived here in Brockton and I got saved and received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
One night I was in prayer in my living room. And, I recall that I was there alone. And I was looking outside of our picture window, and I was praying. When all of a sudden I heard a voice. Now, whether it was within me or outside of me; but, I heard a voice. And, with that it startled me. And, from my kneeling position, I very gently fell backwards.
And, I ended up in a position that was more like a fetal position. And, some folks would call that experience as being “slain in the Spirit” or “resting in the Lord.” And, so this happened even before that phenonemum of “being slain in the Spirit” even took place here in Brockton; and, all over the place. And, I didn’t know what it was at that time; but, I just enjoyed it and thought that it was just part of things that happened when you are in intimate prayer with the Lord. And as I lay there, again I heard the voice and the voice said to me: “Ask me to heal you.” And, I acknowledged that that was the voice of the Lord. And, I just responded to the Lord saying: “Well, Lord I don’t know what to ask you for. I don’t think that I am in need of any type of healing.” Then, the Holy Spirit brought the recollection back to my mind about my back problem. You see, I had grown so accustomed to my pain, that I became unaware of my back problem. And so, I said: “Oh, yes Lord…my lower back.” And, with that, I straightened out and I laid flat on my back. And I can still remember that in that position, I began to feel a very warm sensation in the area of my lower back. And, I was miraculously healed of that back problem that I was born with! (Applause) That’s like over thirty-five years ago that I received that healing. And, I have never had any other problems with my lower back. And, I continued doing masonry work and I continued to lay those 12”x12”x16” concrete blocks and I continued laying stones that weighed from five pounds to eighty-five or so pounds. I go like this and I make that gesture toward Willie; because, Willie could understand. He worked alongside me as a mason-tender. So, he knows how heavy that work is. And, I have never had any problems with my lower back. And, the doctor said that I would not live to see thirty-five years old. So, when I say that God is good, I say it without any exaggeration! He is GOOD!!
The greatest miracle of all is becoming “born-again” of the Spirit of God. Everyone needs to consider that. That experience of becoming a “new creation” in Christ Jesus is a miracle indeed!! It is “supernatural” and that is the only way that it could happen. It is a “divine” intervention of God or an act of God. Which is a definition of a miracle. A “supernatural” happening. Every one of us who are “born-again” of the Spirit of God needs to realize and understand that fact; that, since you were “born-again,” you experienced the greatest miracle of your whole life. And, that miracle has NOT ended! You are still in that miracle right now!! And, God is still affecting your life! You are still in that miracle, walk ye in it! Walk in your miracle! Be observant and you will see that the small things that you have were not able to see, and accept and receive as a miracle of God, you will see it if you will open your “spiritual” eyes and look at the way that you live your life everyday as if you are living in a miracle. Then, you’re going to see that the tiniest thing, you are going to acknowledge to God and to others and say: “Well, that’s a miracle!” When I met Andy, well…that was a miracle! That certainly was not a coincidence! There is no such thing as a coincidence when you are living a miracle in the Lord! There is only “God-incidents!” Things that are arranged by the Holy Spirit! So, I just want you all to be sensitive to that fact, that YOU are a miracle of God! Continue to walk in that miracle, glorifying God every moment of your life! Give Him Glory! Amen? Praise God!

I want to show you something in scripture. You will find it in 2 TIMOTHY 2: beginning at verse 8. Pastor stops to pray:
…. So, Father, I pray that as we review this scripture, this word that comes from You, that we will be able to see and discover just “who” we are and “what” we are in the Lord Jesus Christ. This I pray for Your Glory. Amen.
2 TIMOTHY 1:8 – “Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, V.9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, Now, what is so pitiful and pathetic is when a person claims to be a Christian, yet lives his life or her life contrary to God’s Word! What a shame! What a sham!! God’s people ….as HOSEA 4:6 says, that “My people perish (are destroyed) for the lack of knowledge.” God’s people are destroyed (perish) for the lack of knowledge. And it is the lack of knowledge of GOD! They are lacking the knowledge of GOD and the things of GOD! The things of the kingdom of God! The things of the Lord Jesus Christ! Lacking the knowledge of the Gospel of our Salvation which is the Word of Truth! You know, according to MATTHEW….I want you to write this down in your notes…In MATTHEW 28 and verse 19. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.” Make disciples…to make learners, to make students of the Lord Jesus Christ! To make folks to become “learners” of the Lord’s doctrine! Then, He says…after they go and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, or in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ….and then, verse 20 says: teaching them….to what?? Answer: to observe all things that I have commanded you. Now…take a look at MARK 16:15- Jesus says to His disciples once again: “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. He who BELIEVES and is BAPTIZED will be SAVED. But, he who does not BELIEVE will be condemned.” You see, there is a process as far as Salvation goes. According to MATTHEW 28 and MARK 16, Jesus said to His disciples or apostles:
“Go and preach the Gospel…(Preach the Good News)…” What is the GOOD NEWS? Answer: “God so loved the world that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.”
(JOHN 3:16) That’s the Good News! So…to preach the Good News in its entirety! Who is Jesus? Where did He come from? What did He do? Why did He die? And, thank God, that He resurrected from the dead and ascended into heaven! But the Good News ought to be shared in its entirety! Then, after a person has the opportunity to hear the Gospel of Christ, then, they will be able to make a determination! Jesus says…Preach the Gospel, tell them the story of Salvation; and, those who BELIEVE shall be saved….those who BELIEVE NOT (That’s the choice, the determination, the selection that they make), those who reject the Lord Jesus Christ, shall be condemned. Jesus said it. The Good News is NOT how to get condemned! The Good News is “how” to avoid condemnation! The Good News is “how” to receive the more Abundant Life! The Good News is “how” to spend eternity with the Lord God Almighty! The Good News is “how” to receive forgiveness of sin! So, there is a process. ROMANS 10:17 says: “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” The Word of God! And, so the person hears the Word of God, the Gospel of their salvation; then, a determination is made. They believe it or they reject it. And so, by discovery of the Gospel of Christ they learn that Jesus died for the forgiveness of their sins. Yes, He died for the forgiveness of all sins; however, for sinners to qualify for this forgiveness, they need believe that Jesus is the Messiah, that He is the Son of God. They need to believe that Jesus is the Word who was in the beginning with God and that He is God! They need to believe that the Word became flesh and dwelt among men. They need to believe that Jesus paid the price with His own blood on the Cross at Calvary, that we may have forgiveness of sin and receive eternal life. So, upon hearing the Gospel of Salvation, a person has that determination to make. You BELIEVE and you shall be saved. You don’t BELIEVE and Jesus said: “He who does NOT believe will be condemned.” That’s what Jesus said. That’s NOT what I said; but, what Jesus said! So, MATTHEW continues on and says: “….Preach the Word and teach them “how” to become a “disciple” of Christ.” And, then he says:
“….those who believe and are baptized, shall be saved.” You see, back in those days, the Church was so concerned and very particular. They wanted to make certain that a person had the full benefit and that they had full understanding of what they were about to commit their lives to. And so, they explained the Gospel in its entirety. And, the folks had the time to make that determination. So, after the teaching is given; then, those that believe are then baptized. So, after they heard the Word, and after they were able to decide through the Gospel and see for themselves how God’s Plan of Salvation works and affects them, the person makes that determination to believe. And so, believers are thus, baptized. So, every believer is baptized. You have to be a believer to be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. So, MATTHEW continues on and says….Well…Jesus says: After they are baptized; then, they are to be “taught.” The “newly” baptized converts are to be “taught” to “observe” all of the doctrine of Christ. In other words Jesus says; and, He placed a very important emphasis on this: That every believer of Christ, be a “disciple” of His in a “continuing” fashion. Meaning that they need to receive the “whole” doctrine, the “whole” teaching of Christ! And, it is an “on-going” thing! The Apostle Paul says that we ought to grow unto “spiritual maturity.” Even to the extent of the “full measure,” and “full stature” of the Lord Jesus Christ. And, I know that that is a high calling. Some of us might say: “That’s not only a high calling; but, that’s a big calling! How can God expect us to come to the full measure and the full stature of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself? That’s impossible!” Well…I’ll tell you what…God will never give us an order that He knew we could never fulfill. The fact that He says: “the extent of our spiritual growth is to the full measure and the full stature of the Lord Jesus Christ.” In fact, the Apostle Paul also explains in EPHESIANS that we are to be conformed to the image of Christ. Did you hear that? Conformed to the image of Christ! He doesn’t say: “Now…you little children, I want you all to “try” to be conformed to the image of Christ.” No…Paul says: “BE conformed into the image of Christ!” That you be conformed into the image of Christ. Which is all part of the discipleship of the Church that the Lord Jesus Christ Himself built. And, He provided the Five-fold Ministry: The apostles, the prophets, the pastors, the teachers and the evangelists, the Teaching Ministry, to teach and instruct all of the believers of Christ, so that they would be fully equipped. So that they would and could be or “be” the person that God has called them to be! Discipleship is so important! That’s the reason that I feel so sorry for those who refer to themselves as Christians…Lone Rangers…who want to be alone by themselves! They do not want to be discipled by anybody! Such a pity! Because they are just missing out on God’s blessings! Missing out!!
So, in 2 TIMOTHY 1:8 – Says: “…according to the power of God…and verse 9 – who has SAVED and CALLED us with a HOLY calling….” Pastor asks the question: Who CALLED US, the Believers, and the Church of the Most High? Who is doing the CALLING? And, who is doing the SAVING? Answer: GOD! Turn to someone and say: “It is GOD who SAVES! It is GOD who CALLS!!”
